Instructions
Wash and slice green tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices.
Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and buttermilk, and one with cornmeal, breadcrumbs, and seasonings.
Coat the tomato slices by dipping them in flour, egg mixture, then the breadcrumb mixture.
Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C) and fry the tomatoes for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels, then serve with your favorite dipping sauce for a delightful finish.
Notes
For extra flavor, try seasoning the flour with paprika or onion powder.
If you prefer a lighter texture, you can skip the breadcrumbs and use just cornmeal for the coating.
