German Pancake Recipe

Fluffy and easy German pancake, or Dutch baby, perfect for breakfast or brunch with minimal ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract optional, for added flavor
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup, lemon wedges

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) with a 10-inch oven-safe skillet inside.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, flour, milk, salt, and optional vanilla until smooth and thin like crepe batter.
  • Remove the skillet, add butter, and swirl to coat.
  • Pour the batter into the hot skillet and bake for 20 minutes until puffed and golden.
  • Serve immediately with powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup, or lemon juice.

Notes

For a slightly sweeter pancake, add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the batter.
