Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add salt, vanilla extract, and eggs, mixing until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda, then gradually add to the wet mixture, stirring gently.
  • Fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to place dough balls on the prepared sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden and the centers remain slightly soft.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack.

Notes

For a chewier texture, slightly underbake the cookies and allow them to be set on the baking sheet before moving them.
